ICMP 2009 Graduation Live to be held at the O2

The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) has announced that their 2009 student graduation will be held at Matter, the newest and hottest addition to London’s O2 venue, on Sunday 1st November.

Steve Vai plays at London International Music Show 2009

Master Guitar Virtuoso, Steve Vai, bought his Alien Guitar Secrets master class to the 2009 London International Music Show at ExCeL exhibition centre, London Docklands today 13th June and will play a second sold out master class tomorrow. This was Vai’s only UK appearance this year and culminated in a special performance guesting with the Phil Hilborne band featuring Nicko McBrain on drums.

The series of two sold out master classes was a unique and once in a lifetime opportunity for the select few people to hear Steve discuss guitar techniques, the music business and a few attendees were able to jam with Steve in this intimate environment.

Jack Thammerat wins Guitar Idol 2009

Guitar Idol, the world’s biggest online talent search to find the hottest undiscovered guitarists on the planet final was held today at the London International Music Show and the overall winner was Jack Thammerat from Thailand.

Organised by online magazine All Out Guitar, and Lick Library, Guitar Idol 2009 saw the public and professional judges select the best guitarists from around the world. The 12 Finalists came from all over the globe including, Brazil, Ecuador, Bosnia, Italy, Chile and were be invited to play live in front of thousands in London and take home fabulous prizes from sponsors including Marshall, PRS, Ernie Ball/MusicMan, Blackstar Amplification, Mayones Guitars, The Guitar Institute and Rock School.

Amy Macdonald chooses the 2009 Shure Creative Award winner

Best-selling artist Amy Macdonald recently judged the final of the annual Shure Creative Award, an innovative competition for aspiring singer-songwriters. The award is jointly sponsored by Shure and the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance.

Applicants were asked to upload a video of themselves performing an original song to www.shurecreativeaward.com which following a round of public voting and judging by a panel of experts resulted in a final ten being passed on to Amy, who chose the overall winner.
